The Rotary Calendar designates February as Peace and Conflict Resolution Month

Rotary International President Ian Rieseley has put 3 of his 6 Presidential Peace Conferences in February in honour of the designation of February as Peace and Conflict Resolution Month.

Peace building is not only a major focus of Rotary's current president, it is also one of Rotary's Six Areas of Focus and has been a major focus of Rotary for decades. Think of our Rotary Youth Exchange Program - building peace one young person and one friendship at a time.

During February I encourage you to consider what you and your club can do to further peace building in your community (maybe even in your own club) and internationally
- one friendship at a time.

There is still time to signup for the closest February peace conference:
February 9-11 - Environmental Sustainability and Peace, Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Registration for this event closes on February 4. Details can be found here.

If you like to travel, consider attending one of the other Presidential Peace Conferences in February:
17 February — Water and Sanitation and Peace, Beirut, Lebanon
24 February — Disease Prevention and Treatment and Peace, Coventry, England, UK

Youth-led Service Grants (for Canadian Clubs)

Do you know youth in your community that have a service project in mind?

Enhancing Rotary's Public Image
Rotary launched a new public image campaign some months ago called - "Rotary: People Of Action" - a lot of materials have been developed to help clubs get the word out about what they do in their communities and around the world.

Recently, the Rotary clubs in San Diego, California used these People of Action materials to display large posters and video clips at the San Diego airport - visible to all passengers travelling through the facility. The displays were in place for 2 weeks, including the time period for the International Assembly (training for next year's District Governors).

This was Rotary public image promotion on a grand scale to be sure - but - some of the ideas may apply to your club for promotion in your town. If you're interested, you can read the full article here.
