To commemorate the 50th Anniversary Rotary Youth Exchange in District 6330, we have established the D6330 RYE50 Scholarship Fund. This fund, awarded annually, will allow students with economic challenges—those for whom a life-changing opportunity like Rotary Youth Exchange would usually be out of reach—to still apply and experience all that RYE has to offer. Students can receive between $1,000 – $5,000 in one year to assist with the costs associated with their exchange.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 for the fund. We announced during the reunion that an anonymous donor provided a matching dollar for dollar donation of up to $12,500 to help us reach $25,000 by the end of June 2021. Good news! Another anonymous donor has provided another $12,500 to help us get to $50,000!

If you are American, in order to receive a relevant receipt, please donate to the Robert W. Shoemaker Jr. Scholarship by sending a cheque to:

Bob Shoemaker was one of the founders of Central States Rotary Youth Exchange and served for 30 years as a Central States correspondent to Brazil and other countries in South America. Upon his retirement as correspondent in 2005, the Central States Rotary Youth Exchange board set aside $10,000 to honour Bob by annually awarding a scholarship to deserving outbound RYE students. Any district within Central States may nominate a student for a Robert W. Shoemaker Jr. Scholarship.

Thanks again to the organizers!

Yours in Rotary,
