Hand Up is a group of approximately 15 Rotarians from across District 6330 who share a passion for International work.  As you may be aware, Hand Up has not completed an International Project in the past year.  Well, we are back and moving full speed ahead.

COVID caused us to pause and the ongoing Civil War in Cameroon, Africa is making it difficult for us to continue projects in that area.  So, we are now looking at completing a water project in the village of Todos Santos in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala.

Todos Santos is home to a community of native Mayan people who live high up in the mountains.  Using gravity to transport water from the top of the mountain, the community already has a water system in place.  However, during the dry season, they run out of water.  The current small cistern stores some water, but it is unable to see the community through the dry months.

This water project will install two new cisterns and also provide new latrines and a hand wash station at the school.

With the power of matching grants, only $12,550US from Rotary/Rotaract Clubs is required to complete this $37,000US project.  By working together our committee of 15 active and dedicated Rotarians takes funds from clubs across the district, pools them together, completes grant applications and works with Rotarian partners in other countries to complete major projects.

As an individual, or as a club, you too can be part of Hand Up.  Send a financial donation or contact us about joining our committee.  In the past 25 years, Hand Up has completed projects worth over 2.5 million USD.  We often have 2 or 3 active projects taking place at the same time.   Our committee has the expertise, enthusiasm and connections to make it happen.  We simply need your financial support.  This is an easy way for a Rotary or Rotaract Club to be part of an International Project without having to worry about Grant Applications, etc.
