February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
As we move through this month filled with hearts and letters of affection, I would like to pose a challenge to each of you—Share the Love!
I have previously written about being kind to those around us, having empathy, and remembering that we all want to do good in the world. So, let’s share our love! This month, I encourage all of you to spread good news about Rotary, your fellow club members, and the good things that are happening all around us.
If you haven’t yet, please join the Rotary 6330 Facebook group here (https://www.facebook.com/groups/178233978187). If you see something that interests you, that you are passionate about, or that just looks amazing, ENGAGE! This means like a post, share it to your personal Facebook page with a quick statement about why you love the post, or send it to someone in your club.
Here are several other ways you can Share the Love this month:
Do you know someone who is a great professional trainer? Nominate them to lead the training team! We are looking for someone who has the expertise of training and instruction that can work alongside the team. Anyone interested can email me directly.
Do you have great ideas for service in our increasingly virtual world? Join the temporary “Redefining Club Service” committee. If you are interested, please email me directly.
Does your club have a great story to tell? We want to hear it! Have you removed barriers, had an awesome club experience, celebrated a milestone, or completed an incredible fundraising effort? Send me an email so we can share it with everyone!
To have your event listed, put it on your ClubRunner Calendar or send an email with details for your upcoming event to the Editor. Your feedback, suggestions, and submissions are welcomed.
If you have a story to tell, pictures to show off, or an event to publicize, please send it to the editor and we will publish it and/or make sure it gets on the District 6330 website.
Last year Rotary Hand Up successfully obtained a global grant for a water project in Todos Santos, Guatemala with financial support from several clubs within District 6330.
This life-changing project is now nearing completion and this short video illustrates progress up to the end of December and also provides a teaser of our next project, which we are looking to start later this year. Again this is in Guatemala, in the remote village of Tuilam, and it will provide a rainwater harvesting system for a village of around 400 inhabitants for a budgeted cost of $40,000 USD.
If you would like to support or would simply like to know more about this water harvesting project and the humanitarian work of Hand Up, email me at: tony.sheard@gmail.com, and we would be delighted to arrange a presentation/speaker for one of your meetings. In the meantime enjoy this 3-minute video clip. https://youtu.be/0HdZVOS6ZeU
There is an upcoming RLI II and it will be run March 14th and 21st. The time for March 14th is 6:30-9:30 pm and March 21st 6:45 to 9:30 pm. We will be sending out a note to all our District Rotarians in early February with registration details.
As we face one record-breaking disaster after the other, last year 113 million lost their homes and numbers are projected to grow. ShelterBox continues to work hard to ensure that families receive the life-saving shelter and tools they need to recover after disaster. We take comfort knowing Rotarians and Rotary Clubs are up for the challenge and continue to put service above self to support families in their time of need.
