Service Committee
The Service committee provides channels for Rotarians to volunteer in ways that meet the needs of our
community or world and that visibly embody Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self. These include
service opportunities for Rotarians to participate in locally or to contribute to internationally and could
be ongoing (e.g., Food Bank Saturdays), annual (e.g., Crim Rotary Mile), or one-time (a spring clean-up).
Ideally, the committee will coordinate at least one service project per year for each of Rotary’s five
avenues of service:
• Community (e.g., read to students in classrooms, Food Bank)
• Vocational (e.g., mock interviews)
• New Generations (working with young people)
• International (e.g., Haiti water project)
• Environment (e.g., park cleanup)
